This year will see a sharp increase in people booking, and enjoying self catering Cornwall holidays. The reason for this is fairly simple. The Euro has achieved virtual parity with the Pound, meaning that going abroad has become uneconomic for many British families who have grown used to cheap foreign travel and also for overseas visitors, the present exchange rate makes the UK better value as a tourist destination than it has been for a very long time.

Long range weather forecasts are predicting a warm dry summer for the UK this year and when the sun is shining in Cornwall, it is like nowhere else on earth, it has a magic all of its own. On a quiet Cornish beach, you can definitely experience that ‘far away from it all’ feeling as you feel all the stress from your noral everyday life just dissolve, and peace and relaxation set in.

Anyone choosing to visit Cornwall for a week or two has several options to choose from when choosing their accommodation. Many will opt for self catering accommodation, but there are also campsites, caravan parks, hotels, and even Youth Hostels. The advantage of self catering accommodation is the freedom it offers. You can relax and be yourself, enjoy your holiday at your own pace in your own space.

Over the last several decades Cornwall has had to change and adapt to modern times. The old traditional industries of agriculture, fishing, and mining, are just a fond distant memory for many, they have long been replaced by tourism as the major industry of the county.

This change has meant that considerable numbers of properties in the county have been re-purposed to serve this important money spinner for the local economy. What used to be fishermen’s cottages in pretty little fishing villages are now well appointed, comfortable self catering accommodation, and the same holds true for old agricultural cottages, and even miners cottages up on the secluded moors, and of course there are also many fine new purpose built self catering homes.

Blessed as we are with the internet, in this day and age, it couldn’t be easier to find suitable self catering accommodation. Just choose the location where you would like to stay, and then ‘Google it!’. You will be spoilt for choice.

Make sure that the property you select meets your basic requirements in terms of the actual accommodation offered. For example, are there enough bedrooms for your party, are the bathrooms and kitchen up to scratch? To you have access to a good modern TV, Sky, Freeview, DVD, CD player and so on? Take little time to do your research. Also check to see exactly what comes with your booking in terms of supplied linen, heating and so forth.

Once you have found and chosen your holiday hideaway, it is only necessary to decide how you will spend your time in your little paradise.
